About Taguig
Taguig (Tagalog: [taˈɡiɡ]), officially known as the City of Taguig in Filipino (Lungsod ng Taguig), is a highly urbanized city situated along the northwestern shores of Laguna de Bay in Metro Manila, Philippines. It has a population of 1,223,595 people, making it the 5th most populous city in the Philippines. Taguig is renowned for being home to Bonifacio Global City, one of the premier financial centers of the Philippines. Originally a fishing village during the Spanish and American colonial periods, Taguig experienced rapid development when former military reservations were transformed into financial centers and mixed-use planned communities by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA). Taguig achieved highly urbanized city status through the passage of Republic Act No. 8487 in 2004, which was validated by a plebiscite.
Positioned in the southeastern portion of Metro Manila, Taguig is bordered by Pasig and Pateros to the north, Makati and Mandaluyong to the northwest, Pasay and Parañaque to the west, Cainta and Taytay, Rizal to the northeast, and Muntinlupa to the south.
